Apple Window Display Contest
The Friends of Downtown Hendersonville invites all local businesses to decorate their windows for the 80th Annual NC Apple Festival, supporting our local NC apple growers! This year’s theme is “80 Years Strong – A Sweet Tradition.”
You can compete in the Apple Festival Window Display Contest by submitting the entry form found below. Entries must be submitted by Friday, August 28th, and the form includes all the rules and deadlines to follow.
The Contest winner will be announced during the opening ceremony on Friday, September 4th at the Historic Courthouse on Main Street. Other prizes include:
- Featured on the contest page of the Apple Festival website
- Social Media shoutouts from Downtown Hendersonville & Apple Festival accounts
- Apple treats for your whole staff
- Trophy & bragging rights, of course!

Apple RECIPE Contest
The NC State Extension invites all chefs, cooks, bakers and inquisitive culinary producers to compete in the Apple Recipe Contest at the NC Apple Festival by submitting the entry form found on its website. Entries must be submitted online by Monday, August 31st, and the form includes the contest rules and timeline.
Entries will be divided into four (4) categories as follows:
- Bread – sweet or savory in a loaf or muffin form
- Pies and Pastries – must have pie crust or pastry dough component
- Desserts – includes cakes & cookies
- Kids – any recipe made by a child who is 12 years of age or younger (with adult supervision)
